Abstract

Resection of tumors of the anterior abdominal wall often leaves significant tissue defect. Modern methods of reconstruction allow to restore the integrity of the abdominal wall. Excision of locally advanced lesions often leads to complex defects requiring layered closure that allows radical treatment of cancer avoiding such complications as a postoperative hernia, postoperative wound infection and necrosis of soft tissues. This article provides an overview of the prevalence of preoperative assessment of tumor process, defect analysis, surgical planning and the choice of optimal surgical technique for replacing a defect.
